The foundation of digital transformation is digital twins and digital threads as both allow to test the new processes or practices and product concepts in a virtual environment. Technically speaking digital twin is a virtual representation of the physical object that imitates the organization's controls, machines, systems, and overall workflow. Whereas, digital thread is just a record of specific product or systems lifetime, from its conception to end.
