Photonic sensors have quite an important role in energy harvesting and the production of power. Photonics technology can be applied efficiently in the generation of solar energy. The sun has enormous energy which can be converted into power using photovoltaic or solar cells which directly convert sunlight to electricity. Thus energy sector is utilising the potential of photonics in harnessing solar energy.
